Is cuil less relevant search engine although quicker

cuil is a news browser launched today which claims to search more pages on the web, than any search engine. Three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.

cuil homepage by you.

I like the idea of a startup taking on the giants.  The secret to cuil is the way it handles web queries, apparently it has found a way to scale this better than Google. So I thought to put it to the test. Now as an end user I don’t care about the technology, speed, scalability and busines.

Ok so I live in Brighton, UK. We have two major universities: Brighton University and Sussex University. Lets search for the term Brighton Universities:

cuil business social network by you.
It listed Brighton Sussex Medical School although Brighton University was on the second page and Sussex ?? No where. Whilst on Google Sussex and Brighton are the first 2 links:

google business social network by you.
Next lets try Business Social Networks: Here I’m assuming sites like LinkedIn, Xing etc would be higher on the list:

cuil brighton universities by you.

LinkedIn ?? Whilst LinkedIn is sprinkled all over Google:

google brighton universities by you.

I think Cuil has made a breakthrough in the technology powering it, maybe now it just needs to order search results better.

[...] Biggest issue with hiring global PR firms is to choose the correct one. Perhaps not choosing an agency who does PR for companies for any sector i.e. double glazed windows to NASA space shuttle but specialists. Generally speaking PR agencies don’t really understand the technology and are all about the buzz words: ‘Google Killer’, ‘Email for Technology professionals’… This doesn’t really say a lot about the technology for its early adopters i.e. technology savvy professionals. So they try it, find it inaccurate and write it off. So for instance if Cuil (’Google Killer’) was portrayed as ‘Search Engine with awesome Usability’ geeks would have accepted it and there would have been less finger pointing. [...]
