Kwiqq new site

February 5th, 2008

They say its always good to keep your site looking fresh. We have just done that and re-branded our website. Here is how it looks, Kwiqq V2:

We have made the site, so that users can really quickly browse through the Features of the Kwiqq Framework:

And see our client sites as screen shots at a click of a button:

This new site reflects the upgrade of our software. Kwiqq.com is built on Symfony as well, which is what Kwiqq Version2 is all about.

Let me give you a quick over view of Voxswap. The site is still in its early stages and allows users to learn a new language with the help of the community.

There are chat, search features so you can quickly find people who can help you out and have a conversation. The site is targeted at languages hence there is a virtual keyboard for users to type all accents.

What in my mind is the USP (Unique Selling Point) of Voxswap ? I think its the attitude to KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid. The site is kept simple and the focus is to learn a language in a fun way. No silly unnecessary tools: pokes, super walls, vampire bites etc. Things like drag and drop mechanism to build your profile.

The site is not even a week old and already there are 225 users on it.

The site is powered by Kwiqq. We have gone through months of upgrade to build version 2 of our software. Voxswap is our first website in this series. Kwiqq V2 is built on Symfony.

Symfony is an open source PhP framework developed over several years. What I really like about Symfony is its:

  1. Enterprise ready: Hence it allows us to scale as the community grows.
  2. Built in Ajax: We can quickly deploy Ajax features for our clients
  3. Clean code: I love the modular code and MVC model symfony follows
  4. Open Source: This allows us not only to access the wider open source development community but also to give something back

This is what Facebook had to say about my Account deactivation:

Hi Raj,

Your account was disabled because you took repeated actions that could be construed as spam. For instance, it is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use to repeatedly send the same message or to make the same post. Facebook prides itself in protecting users from spam, and we take this standard very seriously.

However, after reviewing your situation, we have reactivated your account, and you should now be able to log in. Please refrain from sending the same message or repeating the same post, as further violations of our Terms will result in your account being permanently disabled.

If you would like to spread the word about an organization you are starting, I recommend that you use our Groups feature to share information with other users. You may also want to consider using our new Pages feature. These Pages are distinct presences, separate from users’ profiles, and optimized for these presences’ needs to communicate, distribute information/content, engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fans’ recommendations to their friends. Facebook Pages are designed to be a media rich, valuable presence solution for any artist, business, or brand.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance with your account.

Thanks for your understanding,

>>>

My Reaction

So Facebook deactivated my account because I sent “the same message or to make the same post“. Excuse me ! What else should I say on a message to a members of a Brighton Salsa Group?

Remember I addressed the email to every person I sent it to. Not that I sent 100s of email. I didn’t even send the email to the entire group and the group only had around 84 members.

For some reason I don’t seem to have, ever connected with my Facebook profile, like I did with MySpace. And now I know why.

Keep controlling your users Facebook and slowly you’ll loose them!
